A waived test is one that has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with a low risk for an incorrect result.

Examples of waived tests utilized at Community Healthcore are glucose testing (Accu-chek), urine drug screening, alcohol testing and pregnancy testing.

Dr. Gregory Montoya is our Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) oversight physician who reviews and approves procedures addressing waived testing and quality control.

We utilize the manufacturer’s instructions for maintenance including storage and cleaning of waived testing equipment/supplies.

Dr. Montoya designates in writing the staff responsible for performing and supervising waived tests.

Staff competency must be demonstrated/documented annually.
